VT MÄK Announces VR-Vantage 3D Visual Solution

MÄK Previews Flexible New 3D Applications and Toolkit at I/ITSEC

Cambridge, Mass., December 2, 2008 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited’s (ST Electronics) US subsidiary, VT MÄK (MÄK), today previewed VR-Vantage, the company’s new 3D visual solution. The product is built on Open Scene Graph (OSG) and includes a collection of visual applications as well as a toolkit. VR-Vantage consists of the next generation MÄK Stealth, MÄK’s 3D information station; Vantage IG, a desktop image generator for viewing out-the-window scenes; and the VR-Vantage toolkit to extend the included visual applications or even build a new application.

VR-Vantage is terrain-agile, allowing customers to use the terrain they already have. Many 3D tools lock the user to a specific terrain format. VR-Vantage can directly load a wide variety of industry standard formats. It also allows users to compose terrain “on-the-fly” directly from source data, reducing the need for database creation tools.

VR-Vantage comes with a rich set of built-in content. The product includes Boston Dynamics’ DI-Guy to animate human characters, IDV’s SpeedTree for dynamic vegetation, and Sundog’s Silver Lining for weather effects and volumetric clouds. MÄK is negotiating with other partners to include more built-in functionality. VR-Vantage also includes top quality 3D vehicle models that support damage representations and articulated parts.

With the introduction of VR-Vantage, VT MÄK now provides all the fundamental building blocks for visual simulation solutions.  Bringing our philosophy of flexible applications and powerful toolkits to the visual simulation market, we've answered our customers demands for a well-integrated, highly functional COTS 3D visualization toolkit that offers the ability to customize and extend to meet their unique needs, much like our other highly acclaimed products.

Warren KATZ
Chief Executive Officer, VT MÄK

Customers have been looking for a flexible 3D visualization solution that fits their system architecture, their budget, and the way they work. But they’ve always been forced to compromise. Scene graphs and other toolkits were customizable, but required time and money to develop applications and integrate content. Commercial IGs had great features out of the box, but couldn’t be easily extended, and often were tied to the vendor’s content-generation toolchain. With VR-Vantage we’ve responded to our customers. We give users both out-of-the-box applications and a powerful 3D toolkit in a single product offering. We’re proud to add a flagship visualization product to complement our Link and Simulate products.
