NYNEX Implements iDirect DVB-S2/ACM Network
To Expand Enterprise-Class Service
In The Middle East Region
Network combines gains in bandwidth efficiency with customized tools to streamline end user experience
Herndon, Va., October 20, 2008 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited’s (ST Electronics) related US satellite communication company, VT iDirect Inc. (iDirect) today announced that NYNEX Network Solutions (Nynex), a leading satellite network operator headquartered in Germany, has launched a DVB-S2 network with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) based on iDirect’s Evolution product line. The network will enable Nynex to deliver new levels of bandwidth efficiency to current and prospective customers throughout the Middle East, supporting a wide range of enterprise-class applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP) and high-speed access to Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.
The Evolution network will utilize capacity on Eutelsat’s W6 satellite, which covers the expansive EMEA region. With iDirect’s advanced DVB-S2/ACM features, Nynex will be able to significantly increase data throughput rates, reduce the cost of guaranteed bandwidth and strengthen service stability across the entire satellite footprint – overcoming challenges stemming from rain fade, poor signal strength, diverse antennae sizes and other conditions. Nynex plans to expand the network into Africa on the NewSkies NSS10 satellite.
The flexibility of the iDirect Intelligent platform will also enable Nynex to carry forward customized services that it has developed for resellers and end customers to support iDirect’s award-winning iNFINITI product line. One of the advanced services is a Web portal that interfaces directly with iDirect’s iVantage Network Management System, providing Nynex customers with more in-depth configuration and monitoring functionality, the ability to instantly register and commission remotes and tools that track and analyze usage data to optimize network performance.
We selected iDirect to gain greater flexibility in how we deliver our services, manage our networks and grow our business. With iDirect’s Evolution system, we can continue to provide highly personalized services to our enterprise-class customers, while delivering significant improvements in bandwidth efficiency.
