ST Electronics Showcases Satellite Communication And
e-Learning Solutions @ CommunicAsia 2007
Singapore, 19 June 2007 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) is showcasing e-Learning and satellite communication solutions at CommunicAsia 2007 (Singapore Expo, Hall 3, Booth no. 3H3-01, 19 – 20 June 2007). These include Block Up-Converters, High Power SSPA (Solid State Power Amplifier), Outdoor Transceivers, Satcom-On-The-Move, as well as satcom solutions for the Asia Pacific market from iDirect, its US satcom arm. In addition, ST Electronics is featuring its Multimedia Education Resource Interactive Teacher System (MERiTS).
Multimedia Education Resource Interactive Teacher System (MERiTS)
Leveraging on its capabilities in the design and implementation of training solutions and simulators, ST Electronics has developed MERiTS for today’s teaching professionals. MERiTS is a robust, scalable and most importantly, cost-effective interactive classroom and learning management system that is designed to enable teachers to conduct classes more effectively and efficiently. Through innovative design, MERiTS integrates the requirements of self-paced and teacher-led learning into a single system. It is a system with interactive features that allow for simultaneous screen and desktop broadcast, remote and continuous monitoring, direct screen annotation, real-time audio and video streaming, secure login, internet access control, performance tracking, remote device-locking, text and voice conversation management, to name but a few of its innovative features.
TeachingCast is a further extension of MERiTS. With TeachingCast, learning takes on a completely new dimension. Live lectures and lessons need no longer be confined within the walls of a classroom. With TeachingCast, a teacher or lecturer can broadcast live, content including details of teaching material used, to any student, anywhere, anytime in the world. Students can also maximise learning opportunities, at their own pace, by tapping into vast remotely-located repositories of content online, or onto the “Teaching-On-Demand” feature.
Multi-Mode Modem
AMM 1800 Multi-mode satellite modem is an innovatively developed solution capable of operating in three different modes - namely, CDMA, IESS and PSK. Its ability to operate in an interference scenario as well as with a reduction in interference from adjacent satellites makes it adaptable to operate in dynamic and diverse communication environments.
The solution is designed with our customers’ need for increased revenue and enhanced returns on investment in mind. The CDMA carrier in AMM 1800 has the ability to overlay the existing SCPC carriers. This provides more capacity to the customer’s service, resulting in the ability to have more users access the same bandwidth at the same time. The modem also acts as a versatile computing platform when incorporated with the necessary software.
Low Cost BUC (Block-Up Converter)
(See separate release for more details of BUCs)
Agilis 2W Low Cost C-Band BUC (Block-Up Converter) is a cost-effective outdoor RF transmitter for satellite communication. Easy to install, it is redundancy-ready and field-proven for any harsh operating environment. The BUC is suitable for both data and voice communication operating in different modulation formats including BPSK, QPSK, QAM and FM.
Agilis C-Band BUC is designed for the SCPC (Single Channel Per Carrier) network configurations and for the low or intermediate data rate for MCPC (Multi-Carrier Per Channel), DAMA (Demand Assigned Multiple Access) or TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) applications. The Agilis C-Band BUC offers a wide range of distinctive advantages and enhanced features for satellite communications systems based in remote or challenging geographic regions. The equipment employs L-Band interface to the indoor unit. The Agilis C-Band BUC is a low cost solution suitable for broadband application (such as DVB-RCS) in satellite IP networks.
